Going back to school is a stressful time for most families, but for families of students in special education, the stress is compounded. We might ask ourselves all kinds of questions when we walk in for registration night. What kind of school year will it be? Will the teacher be a good fit for my child? How will other students treat my child? How will my child respond to a new classroom, new classmates, etc.?
We know that the teachers will have access to our children's IEP's, but we also know that an IEP doesn't tell the whole story. All About Me Info Sheets are one way to help bridge that gap and help teachers get to know your child better.
There are lots of ways to design an All About Me Info Sheet. There are a couple of main ideas you'll want to cover in it: some of your child's strengths, the challenges your child may encounter day to day, and some ways that your child's team can support him.

Remember, it doesn't have to be fancy! Just ask yourself what you really want to make sure that a teacher knows about your child. You can ask former teachers or other people on the team for their suggestions as well.
